Don’t miss the iCULTURE multistakeholder workshop “Ensuring sustainable seaweed biomass provision”!

Are you an expert from research, industry, policy or civil society, with knowledge and experience in the seaweed and algae value chain?
Then you shouldn’t miss the “Ensuring Sustainable Seaweed Biomass Provision” multistakeholder workshop, organised by the EU-funded iCULTURE project.

The online workshop will take place on 27 March 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 CET, and will feature keynote contributions from European policy, research and industry representatives, providing an overview of:

  • EU and regional policy frameworks for sustainable seaweed biomass provision;
  • Current and future seaweed biomass availability and demand scenarios;
  • Research, innovation and industrial pathways supporting circular and cascading value chains.

The second part of the workshop will be highly interactive and focused on participants’ contributions. Through a facilitated discussion, all participants will be invited to:

  • Highlight key challenges related to sustainable seaweed biomass supply and management;
  • Identify technical, business and policy solutions;
  • Co-create preliminary recommendations to inform future research and policy dialogue.

The workshop aims to capture real needs, constraints and opportunities across the algae value chain, contributing to more robust and actionable pathways for sustainable seaweed biomass provision in Europe.

The event will offer participants actionable insights and shared perspectives to support the development of a sustainable, resilient and competitive European seaweed sector, while ensuring that policy and innovation pathways reflect real needs and constraints across the algae value chain.
