iCULTURE at the EU Algae Awareness Summit in Berlin

iCULTURE partner FVA New Media Research represented the project at the 2nd EU Algae Awareness Summit in Berlin, Germany on 16-17 October 2025.

Over two days, the event, organised by EU4Algae, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, investors, and the young generation to exchange knowledge, share success stories, and build new partnerships across the algae value chain.

The conference highlighted pivotal role of algae in shaping Europe’s transition towards a resilient and regenerative blue bioeconomy and how awareness and education are central.

Discussions focused on algae’s contribution to food security, climate neutrality, and the restoration of aquatic ecosystems – including both marine and freshwater environments – as well as on opportunities to accelerate innovation and investments in the sector. By gathering key algae stakeholders under one roof, the Summit reinforced Europe’s collective commitment to scaling up the algae industry and advancing the EU’s green and blue transitions.

During the event, FVA representatives took part in round tables and interactive sessions, engaging with several stakeholders in the algae sector to explore potential collaborations and their involvement in upcoming iCULTURE workshops. These activities, planned for early 2026, will stimulate debate on key topics such as “How to ensure sustainable biomass provision”, “Invasive species: from problem to resource”, “AI power to support seaweed biomass selection and exploitation”, and “Unlocking the potential of circular exploitation of algal biomass”.
