iCULTURE Featured in the EU4Algae “Insider’s Perspective” Series

The European Commission’s EU4Algae initiative has published a new article in its Insider’s Perspective series featuring iCULTURE project. The article, titled Turning Europe’s Unexploited Seaweed Potential into a Zero-Waste Bio-Based Future, is now available on the Maritime Forum.

EU4Algae is a European Commission-led initiative launched in 2022 to accelerate the growth of a sustainable and innovative algae sector. It brings together nearly 1,200 stakeholders, including researchers, industry representatives, technology developers, public authorities, business-support organisations, algae farmers, producers, NGOs, and investors. As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen connections within the European algae landscape, iCULTURE has recently initiated a collaboration with EU4Algae. This engagement enables the project to participate in a broader ecosystem of knowledge exchange, connect with relevant stakeholders, and contribute to discussions that support innovation and sustainable growth across the algae value chain.

In this context, the Insider’s Perspective series highlights key stakeholders contributing to the development of Europe’s algae sector. iCULTURE was selected for its integrated approach combining artificial intelligence, ecological modelling, and advanced bioprocessing to valorise residual seaweed resources. The article outlines how the project’s zero-waste strategy aims to support climate resilience, circularity, and competitiveness within the European bioeconomy and the wider algae value chain.
